A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale on Wednesday shook the Lakshadweep Sea region. According to the National Centre for Seismology, a unit of Ministry of Earth Sciences, the earthquake hit the Lakshadweep Sea around 4:01 AM at a depth of 10 km. There were no immediate reports of loss of lives or property. Underwater earthquake created a ripple early morning of Wednesday in Lakshadweep.

According to initial reports, the moderate intensity earthquake hit the Lakshadweep Sea region. However no report of damage or casualties has arrived yet, but it created panic among people. Locals were seen running out of their houses as tremors were also felt on ground. Authorities said no tsunami warning was issued. Lakshadweep is a group of island in the Laccadive Sea, off the coast of Kerala, India. More details are awaited.
