Delhi-Faizabad Express derails near Hapur; 15 injured

Eight coaches of Delhi – Faizabad Express derailed near Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur region on Sunday evening. The incident took place at around 9 p.m. between Garhmukteshwar and Khandadhar stations of the Moradabad division.
“At around 9 pm this evening, train 14206 Old Delhi – Faizabad express met with an accident between Garhmukteshwar and Khandadhar stations in Uttar Pradesh, around 40 kms from Hapur,” Indian Railways PRO, Anil Saxena,. ”Preliminary information says that around eight coaches have derailed. There is no news of injury as of now,” he added. He said that officers of the Moradabad division have left for the spot to take stock of the situation.

Ram Nayan Yadav, additional SP, Hapur told Times of India that about 15 passengers had received injuries in the accident. The injured were taken in buses to hospitals in Meerut, Ghaziabad and Hapur. Special arrangements were made at PL Sharma district hospital and Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial medical college for any possible emergency. No casualties were reported.
The derailment affected the traffic on both Up and Down lines on the Delhi-Moradabad section. The Delhi-Faizabad Express left for the destination at around 10:20 pm after affected coaches were ditched.
